As already informed by us in detail on 28.05.2018 - Legal or (currently) illegal? - the rental of apartments without a license is still illegal until clarification of the legal situation in the Balearic Islands. Violations will be punished severely.
A first „successful“ apartment review raid has already been completed in the current 2018 season. And it surely will not be the last one!Penalties of up to € 40,000 await the apartment owners.
And for the tourists, the holiday is also over, unless they have still holiday pay left for a hotel or (short-term available) Finca or villa with a tourist license.
That's why we still advise you:
Please refrain from tourist rental of apartments in residential complexes until the legal situation is clarified. Please rent a holiday apartment outside of hostels, hotels, fincas and villas only, when a license for tourist rental exists. Do not forget to check this license!
